so, whats been up with me over this four-day weekend (oh how i long for another one)...

THURSDAY

so that was when our sophomore class went to the Ren Faire. started out ok, then rained torrentially and we had to leave early. i didnt get hypothermia, but apparently someone did. thats it all in short. i was shivering for the rest of the day because of it, even when i got home

FRIDAY

worked on the brit lit project video then. spent most of the day on it.

SATURDAY

got a bunch of errands done. picked up the new Buffy:Season 8 comic, issue 7. then went to Target and picked up Dexter S1. i love how i can now say i own a show on DVD about a serial killer. awesome! then went to Cheeburger Cheeburger, this awesome restaurant in lower PA. then rented "The TV Set" and watched it, which ive been dying to see for months and it just came out on dvd. great movie about the innerworkings of a TV network and the process of making a pilot

SUNDAY

went orchard-ing. got some apples and apple cider and apple cider donuts. fun. but now i see loads of stuff i need to do tonight and i really have to get on with working.

First Impression of “Pushing Daisies”: New Series Presents Touch of Life and Death

First Impression of “Pushing Daisies”: New Series Presents Touch of Life and Death

The premise of ABC’s brilliant new show “Pushing Daisies” is complicated, yet incredibly intriguing. Ned, the main character, has lived much of his life with a “power” that he mysteriously gained for reasons unknown. Ned can bring back the dead, whether it is a person or animal or even fruit, with just a single touch, but a second touch will send it back to the dead…again. The catch is that the second touch is final and the subject can never be brought back again. And, if a subject is brought back for more than exactly one minute, someone else in close proximity to Ned will die. As an adult, Ned works as a piemaker in addition to working with his partner solving murders. He does this by bringing murder victims back to life to ask who killed them, only to send them back to death before the sixty seconds are up and someone else dies.

Ned is emotionally detached and lonely, but the death of childhood friend and crush Charlotte, whom he called Chuck, awakens his heart and a visit to her body in a funeral home reminds him of all the feelings he had held for her all those years ago. As Ned asks Chuck in that scene, “What if you didn’t have to be dead?”, we see the amazing chemistry between the two characters and the painful obstacle of them never being able to touch each other, which would lead to Chuck’s death… again. As Chuck says later in the episode, “I’d kiss you if it wouldn’t kill me.”

Created by TV visionary Bryan Fuller, the whole show is colorful and vibrant and the scenery is remarkable. Lee Pace and Anna Friel, the former playing Ned and the latter playing Chuck, exude bushels of charisma and their relationship is likely to be one of the most interesting ones on television by the time of its premiere on October 3rd, 2007. Blending a unique mix of comedy, drama, and romance, “Pushing Daisies” never fails to entertain. Airing largely against a slew of reality shows on all the other networks during its timeslot (Wednesdays at 8 p.m.), “Pushing Daisies” is one of the most hyped new shows of the fall season, and should prove to be a hit among viewers.

First Impression of “Chuck”: A Most Unexpected Government Agent

First Impression of “Chuck”: A Most Unexpected Government Agent

Think “24” minus the depressing seriousness and multiplied by a crapload of humor. That’s how you explain NBC’s new dramedy “Chuck”. Having watched the pilot of the series, otherwise known as the first episode in most cases, I have it on good authority that this show is awesome. Combining fast-paced action with an unequivocally nerdy sense of humor, the end result is a genuinely fun show to watch.

Centering on the character of computer expert Chuck Bartowski, played with a winning combination of charm and awkwardness by Zachary Levi, the show begins with him receiving an email from an old college roommate that just happens to contain all of the government’s secrets, which his brain then “downloads” and causes the brain to basically become an all-powerful computer. Oblivious to what has happened to him when he wakes up the following morning, he goes back to his normal job at this show’s version of Best Buy’s Geek Squad. From there, all sorts of chaos ensue involving the NSA and CIA fighting over who gets to use Chuck’s “abilities”.

The cast is mainly full of TV mainstays and is an incredible ensemble. Sarah Lancaster, who plays Chuck’s sister Ellie, is likely to be instantly recognizable from the vast variety of shows she has starred or guest-starred on. Yvonne Strahovski, who plays the alluring NSA agent Sarah Walker, is largely unknown, yet she manages to be a formidable player on the show and her chemistry with Zachary Levi is undeniable.

Its competitors in its timeslot on Mondays at 8 p.m. are fierce, yet the youth and charm of “Chuck” is likely to make it hit among young viewers, and with mega-hit “Heroes” airing right after it, the show should be able to gain a following. Against CBS’s comedy lineup, FOX’s increasingly unrealistic “Prison Break”, and ABC’s powerhouse “Dancing with the Stars”, Mondays at 8 p.m. should pose quite a predicament to all faithful TV viewers.

Update on Hallway Meeting/Work-ful Weekend/

so this week has been moderately eventful. several weeks into school and its just...uggghhh. very hard to deal

is biology not the most pointless topic to those that have absolutely no interest in it? why on earth should it be required? health managed to be probably one of my favorite classes last year because the things seemed relevant, but biology is just plain stupid

birthday in a week and...(counts)... 2 days. which is awesome. i guess its sad that ive been invited to the party of someone whose birthday is AFTER mine, yet i havent even thought of any sort of party planning thing. ill eventually get to it. after all, i had my party at the end of october last year. so its never too late...

signed up for Key Club and then rushed to the hallway meeting today. i didnt really get too much in, so i shouldve just stayed for Key Club, but im sure its not gonna be any different than last year. as for the Hallway Themes our class will vote on on Monday, they are the following...... (since we're last to pick an idea, and i dont really care about stealing of ideas, ill just list them. theres more important things to worry about)

  1. Hollywood (stupid idea that didnt have that many votes, tho somehow it ended up on the ballot)
  2. Simpsons (good, relevant idea)
  3. Nightmare Before Christmas (my favorite choice. hopefully itll win. otherwise i probably wont be all that compelled to help work on it)
  4. Greek Gods/Constellations (i see how it could be done, but i doubt itll be chosen)
  5. something im forgetting

im loaded with work this weekend, but mostly not normal homework. Shakespeare project due Monday. big World test on Monday. two Bio labs (one of which we didnt really do) due Wednesday. science fair proposal due tueday. finish Beowulf and questions by Monday. write two sample television columns to put myself into "contention" for the spots on the newspaper, which shouldnt be hard. just watch the "Pushing Daisies" and "Chuck" pilots and right about them. and im sure theres more work that i just cant think of right now. hopefully tomorrow night will be fun

my task of rewatching all of Buffy has been quite halted by the onslaught of work, but i intend to finish the last 4 episodes of Season 3 this weekend, if not get a disc or two into Season 4. its odd that the last season (Season 7) is the one i remember the least about (probably because ive only watched it once through ages ago before i got the dvds), even tho it was actually a really good season. excited to rewatch Season 6, the emo/depressing-season and my favorite of the series, but i dont foresee getting to it anytime soon

"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" had its season premiere last night. surprised i wasnt yelled at for laughing so hard in my room til 11, long past my little sister being asleep. "I'M AN ABORTION SURVIVOR!" HI-larious. full-on lol. also when Mac and Dee brought Dumpster Baby to the the tanning salon to make it look latino. even tho ive had the dvd for more than a week now of the first 2 seasons, im waiting til Buffy's done to get around to this. and then i have FNL S1 and Degrassi S4 to watch. and im getting Felicity S3 and Tru Calling S2 for my birthday and im sure many other sets with the money i'll get. when will i get around to watching all of these? no clue

and now to cap off the post, an exceptionally funny and short YouTube video that anyone with a single cell of humor in their brains will laugh to. especially if you love "Saved by the Bell". lets just say caffiene pills are a SERIOUS subject.

Doing It
By Melvin Burgess

so now the schoolyear has really started....ugh. yesterday was more than i could possibly handle. surprised i didnt hyperventilate. but i eventually finished it all a bit past 11, which is usual for me, but in this case i had actually consistently been doing the homework and hadnt stopped basically. unlike tonight, where i have maybe 3/4 of yesterday's amount, yet i havent even started  and its past 5. but theres always homeroom. its miraculous how i completed a whole Bio essay today in just part of the bus trip and homeroom. but now, with another Bio essay due tomorrow, its a lot less overwhelming. if only she had told everybody a single page was fine (what a waste of time for those who did 4). even if tonight's topic is on something she hasnt taught us a word about

16 in slightly more than 2 weeks now. i need to write up a list for parents/relatives. what do they need to buy me? more TVonDVD as always, cant really think of anything else i particularly want.

probably tomorrow ill pick up Buffy #6 at the ComicBookStore and then stop at BestBuy and get either It'sAlwaysSunnyInPhiladelphia S1 or 30 S1. both are amazingly awesome comedies that just came out on Tuesday, but not sure which i want more.

for some reason i am incredibly anticipating January for when the 2nd "series" (British for "season") of Skins premieres. my background is now a cast promo shot and ive listened to the theme song millions of times in the past few days. and ive also listened to the song the cast sang at the end of the finale several times too. i NEED my Sid/Cassie fix! for those who have no idea what im talking about, YouTube the shipper videos of Sid/Cassie or just look for some scenes of them. theyre brilliant

reading "Doing It" by Melvin Burgess right now, which is what one of my favorite shows ("Life as We Know It") was based on. i think its great and incredibly fun to read excerpts out of (as some reading this have been witness to)

babysitting tonight, a time that also happens to be while Big Brother is on. DOUBLE EVICTION NIGHT! the eldest is in either 4th or 5th grade i think, which means ill either have to hope the 3 kids are fans of Big Brother (99.7% unlikely) or they have the extremely uncommon bedtime of 8pm. but money is more important than the awesomeness of watching Big Brother live, so ill just end up inevitably being spoiled by Heather tomorrow.

My Newly Favorite Songs

  • "Dream On" by Aerosmith
  • "The Electric Complement" by Blue States
  • "Kelsey" by Metro Station
  • "Typical" by Mute Math
  • "Misery Business" by Paramore
  • "Take Her Back" by The Pigeon Detectives
  • "She's So Lovely" by Scouting for Girls
